February Monthly Meeting

LAG’s first meeting of the new year will be held on February 6 at Capital City Christian Church at 7:00 p.m.  This will be our critique meeting where everyone can bring in one or two pieces that they are working on for helpful suggestions from the group.  We will have the Spring show in March this year, so now would be a good time for helpful hints.  Also this year we are implementing a “Show and Tell” aspect of each meeting where members can bring in tools, materials, demonstrate a technique, talk about a workshop they attended, or a workshop that looks promising.  How about a book you read that gave you some inspiration.  Tell everyone.  Lets get people charged up!

Refreshment Schedule:

February – Dee Kelch,   March – Wanda Medina & Reida Wrenholt,   April – _______________,       May – Janet Fraley,    June – Jean Reitner,    July – Lisa Cassel,      August – Jan Blank,                  September – ____________________,     October – ____________________,      November – Lisa Cassel

New year – new ideas.  The officers and chairmen of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild held a dinner meeting on January 9th to discuss the future of the Guild.  As with all organizations, it seems that the same few people are carrying the load for the rest of the group.  We so hope that the Guild will continue to provide a meeting place to encourage learning and comraderie in the area of the fine arts.

At the culmination of the meeting a survey was taken as to what we are looking for from the Lincoln Artists’ Guild and the results were:

·         Share like interests with others

·         Learn more techniques

·         Learn about other people’s interests

·         Place to display and sell paintings

·         Camaraderie with fellow artists

·         Workshop opportunities

·         Place to learn

·         Meeting people into art

·         Place to hang  pieces

·         Inspiration

·         Connect to other artists

·         Education

·         Show opportunities

·         Friends

·         Art instruction

·         Competition (helps artists work and create)

·         Nice to have places/opportunity to show our work

·         Each person in gallery have a blog

·         Art learning at meetings

·         More members

·         Get more members involved

Where do we go from here?  Let me know if you have any thoughts.  Carmen Stineman
