Wow! What a great time LAG members had at their April 3rd monthly meeting. Anna Alchde from Urban Legends gave a wonderful talk and demo to our group, and many tried this fascinating medium. She brought all the supplies and everyone got to take home one or two of their craft. Great questions from the group, and I hope everyone learned something that they maybe will apply to their own work. Technique, material, etc.

Bring with you, sketchbook/paper/etc to draw on, plus pencils/pens/etc. If you are so inclinned, bring a picture of an animal or even a person that you might want to transform. Janet Fraley and Olga Birth have refreshments. June meeting will be Barn Quilts…..those lovely wooden quilt block paintings that grace rural outbuildings across the Midwest. Visitors are always welcome!

Our LAG Gallery is officially in it’s new location at Against the Wall Framing and Gallery in Havelock. We have had two shows and the overall feelings expressed from patrons and members has been positive. The building is cozy and welcoming so thank you John Ohare for allowing us to merge with you and your business. We just completed our ANAC qualifying show with 17 entries on display of which 15 of those will be traveling to Scottsbluff in late June for the annual statewide convention. Next show at the Gallery will be the 3-D Show which will be held in June. More details later.

The County-City Exhibition Gallery, 555 S. 10th St., seeks two and three-dimensional works created by Nebraska visual artists for its 2018-19 exhibition season. Located on the first floor of the County-City Building, the gallery will display four three-month exhibitions over the course of one year. In addition, each exhibition will include a First Friday opening reception. Artists will receive 100 percent of their sales. Artists will be selected by a jury consisting of the exhibition coordinator, a commissioner from the Public Building Commission (which manages the County-City Building) and an employee of the Mayor’s office. Nebraska artists may apply by submitting a CD of 10 representative images and an accompanying list of titles, sizes and medium by June 1 to Liz Shea-McCoy, exhibition coordinator, 2700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln, NE 68502.
