++++June Program++++

Like most of you in our guild–I’m just a hopeless fanatic when it comes to art.  I just can’t get enough of it and the deeper I get into it the greater the obsession becomes.  I dabble in a little bit of everything: painting and drawing in pretty much every medium, as well as printmaking and modeling with clay.  I teach kids art (along with homeschooling my son) and recently began to teach art to adults, chiefly Bob Ross style landscapes, and other acrylic painting and drawing  projects at Michael’s on 48th and R.

At the June meeting, I want to share how to paint dew drops and water droplets on leaves, flower petals and fruit.  I also thought I’d show how to make a simple “stay-wet” palette for acrylic painting.  I’ll likely have enough supplies for those of you who don’t generally paint with acrylics, but if you do paint in oil or acrylic, could you bring some small and medium sized round brushes, including liner brushes, that would be helpful.  I will bring oil and acrylic paints to share, as well as some prepared surfaces to paint on, cups for water, and disposable palettes.  Lisa Cassel

Seward 4th of July Art Show

It’s not too soon to start thinking about which pictures members would like to display in the art show that is scheduled to be displayed at Seward’s big 4th of July celebration.  Hundreds of people will be viewing this show during the entire month.  More details will follow soon concerning the theme, pickup, hanging, etc.  Joyce Jacobs

Spring Show Results

What a wonderful show being held at “Out of the Box” through the month of May.  There were 29 entries and such a variety.  Congratulations to Frosty Chapman for earning “Best of Show” with his work entitled “Bryans’ Cosmos“.  Our judge was Bob Esquivel and he was very informative with his critiques.  Everyone should have garnered some valuable information to enhance their skills.  Other members who earned awards were:

Merit Awards:

  • Debbie Martin “Sail On”
  • Carmen Stineman “Road to Gallagher’s Canyon”
  • Kristine Brennan “Aran Island Fishermen: Coming Home”

Honorable Mentions:

  • Jane Chesnut “Voodoo’s Freezing Feeling
  • Jane Chesnut “Spellbound
  • Mary Liska “Critters”

Thank You

Thank you, Wanda Medina, for planning and organizing the LAG picnic on May 2.  Despite all the rain we have had, you chose a wonderfully sunny and warm evening for the event which was enhanced by good food, a great location with plenty of subjects for sketching, and delightful conversation.  We appreciate your spending time to get this event together.  Ethel Mount

3D Show in June

3d Show,

Set up is JUNE 1 at 10:00 to 11:30.    Please have you work at Out of the Box during this time.  Nothing will be excepted after 11:30 a.m.

Judging starts at 1:00 pm.

Take down is at the end of June.

Send in the same type of entry form as you used for the spring Show.  Send to the treasure:  Ethel Mount, 8110 Prescott Ave. Lincoln, NE 68506.

Judge Julia Noyes is the Judge again and said for member interested  in 3 D work should be there at 2:00 pm. and she would make comments on what is entered, plus tell us more about 3d work.   If you do not want her to comment about your work in front of everyone, just let us know before the judging.  This  will be very interesting to here her talk about 3d work.  She spoke to with Greg Sparling and myself last year and we really enjoy it.   Even thought I am not doing 3d art  I gained great respect for the work that goes into making a piece of 3d art.

Remember we give out 3 Ribbons with monetary awards.   The more members we get interested  in showing their 3d work the more awards we can hand out.

Lets make this Show larger than our 1st one.
