Presidential Thoughts

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all LAG members!!

We kicked off 2020 with our annual holiday party, which was held at the Golden Corral.

There were 25 folks, including myself at the event.  We talked, ate well, exchanged gifts, renewed LAG memberships, voted in Will Rennick as a new Vice President and played Art Jeopardy!!  A fun time was had by all!!

Be sure to get your memberships renewed, the number of members influences how many ANAC entries the guild will be allowed in 2020.

We have some great programs this year so be sure to read your newsletter and attend the meetings.

Looking forward to a fun 2020!!

LAG Membership

Our new year has started with a great time on Tuesday the 14th at Golden Corral.  Thank you to Kirk for getting everything in order and for the great Jeopardy game, and Gretchen, we now know how competitive you are.  Food was wonderful, and I hope everyone get enough to eat and enjoyed the variety.  If anyone would like to volunteer to plan the New Year’s Party for next year, please let Kirk know.

We have approximately 20 members that have signed up for the 2020 year.  I can’t stress enough that you get your money in to Dee Kelch quickly, as time flies.   If you wish to become a member of ANAC (Association of Nebraska Art Clubs) you need to be enrolled with us by at least the middle of February.  Fees to ANAC are paid for by our club so essentially you are a member of two clubs (for the price of one).   Dee’s address is 4018 N 18th Street, Lincoln, NE  68521.  If you have decided NOT to join this year, we would really appreciate a note or email to Dee so she can update her records.  dkelch40@hotmail.com

It looks like Lynette Fast has gathered a wonderful set of programs for us.  After compiling her wish list from the survey she took last year, is seems like most of the group would like to see more hands-on programs.  A complete list has been compiled for you (see address she listed on her February meeting program synopsis)  Pastels, Watercolor, Sculpture, Fabric Mosaic and how to preserve and present artwork are all programs that look outstanding.  We also will have two critique programs (March and September) which always are informative.  Remember that you can also bring work to any meeting to have critiqued by the group if you would like suggestions.  Carmen

Don’t forget – memberships are due soon.

LAG Show Dates

The LAG will have three shows for 2020.  The first will be the Spring Show to be held April 2 – 30 at the LUX.  We will again host a first Friday reception at that time, coinciding with the LUX First Friday event.  This will actually be two shows in one.  Our judge will also be selecting  pieces that will be entered into the ANAC show this summer being held in Fremont along with our Best of Show, and merit and honorable mention awards.

Second show will be the Seward Fourth of July show held all summer in Seward.  A theme will be decided on at a later date, but keep that in mind.

Third show will be our Fall Show at the LUX from October 1 – 28.  First Friday reception also.

Any questions or suggestions, please contact Carmen at cmstine@hotmail.com or 402 641 6233.  Fresh ideas are always welcome.
