March LAG Program

Amy Sadle will be our guest presenter for the March 7th meeting at the Capital City Christian Church.  Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Amy Sadle, a resident of Syracuse, Nebraska, has had a career as a painter and printmaker of landscapes, still lifes and buildings, working in watercolor, oil, and woodcuts. She writes that a “trademark of her style is an exaggeration of perspective and a spontaneous appearance called ‘touch of hand’.  Each work is very personal to her own life experience.   “It is my goal to move the viewer to see their own lives and observations as important and exciting by combining materials and words or distorting perspectives often using humor or droll observation.”  Amy will be giving a presentation on Copyrights and Art so it should be of great importance to those artists that currently sell their work or not. Feel free to bring a friend or two.  Visitors are always welcome.  You can view Amy’s work at http://www.amysadle.com    Carmen Stineman

juried exhibition in David City

In 2017, Nebraska will be commemorating its 150th anniversary of statehood. In honor of this statewide celebration, Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art, a museum in David City, Nebraska, dedicated to art celebrating the land, is planning a juried exhibition titled 150 Artists, 150 Artworks: 150 Years of Nebraska in Miniature. Our ambitious goal is to display and sell small pieces of art by 150 artists living throughout Nebraska. Because many artists and organizations are just learning of this exhibition opportunity after our original February 1 deadline, we have decided to extend our application deadline to February 25, 2017.

In an effort to promote the success and talent of artists of all ages, our Exhibition Committee is opening the exhibition application to both professional and amateur artists, including a special category for university and high school students. Applications from out of state artists will be accepted, however, during the jury process, preference will be given to Nebraska residents. Also, though it is not currently mentioned on our website, select prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the exhibition.  Please view the exhibition information and encourage your friends and fellow artists to apply.

Submission details are available at http://bonecreek.org/calling-nebraska-artists.
Thank you for helping to celebrate Nebraska, our great state!
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Comte, Collections Manager

New Space for Gallery Members

Exciting News for Gallery Members….

Mattress Value has offered to let us show art work in their showroom above Out of the Box.  This will be temporary until the Halloween people set up their merchandise.  The rules will be the same for the downstairs gallery.  This will be in addition to your work downstairs, that work will stay as is.  Now you can have more work on display (starting with five pieces for now)!  This is a good time to bring some of your larger work that can be displayed, but small pieces will be grouped too.  Bring up to five pieces for the upstairs, inventory sheets have been made that say “upper level” on them and are located in a file at Mattress Values desk.    On the tags you make for your paintings, you must  write a small “upper level” on the front or on the back of the tag for OOB use.   Carmen Stineman
