Upcoming Meeting Activities

7-9pm		 Joan Phelan Member Meeting Activity: Probability & Art Joan Phelan teaches for the UNL OLLI program and has created a series of art activities based on Math, Science, and Art. Attendees will be creating an artwork in which probability guides our choices of the elements we use to create. Ideas of variations in approaching the creation of art will be discussed.
5/10/2022
7-9pm		 Megan Connealy Cookie Decorating Megan owns Pretty Eats Cookies and will share her expertise of cookie decorating. She will demonstrate several different art techniques such as wet on wet, flooding, and outlining to create delicious art. Participants will have 6 cookies to decorate and take home. $25 material fee includes all supplies. See Megan’s work on Facebook: @prettyeatscookiesandcakepops.

Spring Show

  • three entries maximum
  • $10 per entry
  • drop off Wednesday March 30 at LUX from 11 – 1
  • registration to Carmen by Friday the 25 (no late forms)

  • edges finished either with frame, or continuation of medium (no staples showing)

LAG Gallery

April gallery monthly pieces due Saturday March 26 (drop off anytime) or Wednesday March 30 by 1:00.  This will be a great month to have your work in the gallery as we have been having more patronage in the building as the weather gets nicer.   We will channel people over from the LUX on “First Friday” and we also will have lots of people in on April 9 when we have our Art Supply Sale.  We are working quickly on getting a digital payment system up and running before the sale, so we can cash in on impulse buying at the gallery through the year.

Lincoln Arts Festival

We have several LAG members particapting at this years event.  We were considering hosting a table promoting our club, but the requirements (white tent, volunteers, etc) are keeping me from committing at this time.  Maybe in the future, but for those members participating, good luck with sales and contacts.  June 18-19.  Be sure and attend if possible.

Art Supply Sale

  • date of sale is Saturday April 9 from 8-2 (I believe this is also the Spring Game)
  • bring materials that you wish to donate to the Guild anytime the gallery is open, or on Friday April 8 when we set up and price
  • contact Jan Garvin 402 318 9757 with questions OR to volunteer for Friday or Saturday or both!

We have had lots of interest, so we should have a great sale!

 

Programs

We have programs lined up for April and May for our Tuesday evening meetings, but we need ideas for what you the members of LAG wish to see.  Some ideas that have been thrown around are:

  • history of watercolor slide show and talk with Ted Pardy
  • how to switch from hobby to business with your art
  • drawing demo/practice
  • acrylic painting program
  • hints-tips-products
