spring Show Quick Notes

Remember: drop off day is Wednesday March 31.  Bring your money and your art.  You should have already sent in your entry forms to either Gretchen – gretchen.olberding@yahoo.com or Carmen -cmstine@hotmail.com

You don’t have to send the actual form, just include all the information in a text or note. As of March 18 we have 13 entries.

All work will also be included in ANAC selection (unless you designate that you do not want your work to be included in the ANAC selection)

6 month Show?

Inner Peace Massage has an opening for any artist that would like to feature their art work in their massage studio.  If interested you should contact Mitch at 402 440 3627 or email Innerpeacemassagelincoln@gmail.com.  They are looking for a featured artist in their continued Art Introspective Series located at Inner Peace Massage.  This would be free to you the artist.

Lending Library

We now have some materials that can be check out from the gallery.  Included are:

If anyone has any books or DVD’s that you would like to loan to the gallery, we will set up a check out page for you and add to our binder.

 

 

New Members

We have gained several new members, and we have a new member packet available in the gallery or at any of our meetings.  Please make sure if you are new, to ask any of the officers when you see them, or stop in the gallery to get your packet.

Spring Show

  • Bring work to gallery on Wednesday March 31 from 12 – 6.
  • Must have name, title and price on back of your entries IN ADDITION to forms emailed to Carmen Stineman cmstine@hotmail.com (paper mail to 3300 SW 80th Circle, Lincoln, NE  68532) by Wednesday the 24th.   If you are using the old forms from the bottom of the newsletter, you may send information to Gretchen Olberding also.
  • Bring your entry fee in Wednesday the 31st when you bring in your work. Checks are preferred over cash.
  • Maximum entries for Spring Show is 2 with a $10 entry fee for each.
  • These entries will be considered for ribbons and monetary prizes.
  • Must have been completed within the last two years.
  • May not have been shown at a previous Fall or Spring Show.
  • May not have been completed within a class or workshop.
  • Spring Show picks will be eligible for ANAC consideration.
  • If you do not wish to have your pieces considered for ANAC consideration, let the chairman know.
  • If work is selected for ANAC consideration, the work may NOT be changed at all after the judging.  You may change out a frame, but you may not change anything on your work.
  • All works will be photographed at the show, and if appears that there have been changes, the Chairman will not present your work at the convention.
  • ANAC selections will NOT be physically moved to the ANAC Convention this year.  All selections will be entered digitally.

General Rules

  • All work must be dry.
  • No saw tooth hangers, only wire. Work must be ready to hang.
  • No glass (exception for pastels) must use plexiglass.
  • Two Dimensional work may not exceed 40” x 40” including frame.
  • Three Dimensional work may not exceed 36” in any direction and weigh less the 75 lbs.

         If selected for ANAC traveling show – must have a sturdy shipping container and provide a pedestal for work to be displayed.

  • All works will stay in the gallery for the entire month or the entirety of the show.
  • Show chairmen have the right to refuse artwork not prepared properly, or is not of a family friendly nature.
  • Judge’s decision is final.

April LAG Meeting Activities

Please join us for our upcoming meeting activities. We have many hands-on learning opportunities and lots of space to learn. Bring your mask and an open mind. Meetings are in the LAG building (2634 North 48th Street) in a large room with tables and chairs available. Social distancing will be observed.

April 13 Gretchen Olberding Introduction to Plein Air Painting with Pastels Learn the in’s and out’s of painting outdoors. Gretchen will show what materials she takes; several types of pochades ( painting boxes), and how to start an underpainting in three different ways. How to look for the main 3-4 values in a landscape scene. With luck, she hopes to bring it nearly to completion.
May 11 Lois Smith Watercolor Lois Smith, watercolor, watermedia, occasionally mixed media or oil. Member of Impact Nebraska Artists, Signature Member of Association of NE Art Clubs. We will go into painting nature to create a small painting with depth and color. Tips to use in the studio or in the field when working en Plein Aire. Lois will bring watercolor pencils for you to try…you just might love them. Participants may bring their own watercolors, brushes, and watercolor paper OR pay a $5 materials fee to the artist.
