June Monthly Meeting

Lets hope the weather holds for us this time.  LAG meeting is Tuesday June 5 at 7:00 at Capital City Christian Church.  Our program will be an introduction to Barn Quilts and the Nebraska Barn Quilt Trail.  Lori Anderson and Carla Cross from the Seward area will be our speakers.  You may have seen these hanging on barns, garages, etc. across the state, and this summer we will be having an outing for those who wish to make their own “quilt block” hanging.  Visitors are always welcome, so bring a friend.  Joan Leitner and Joyce Jacobs will be providing refreshments.  Carmen

Summer and all things exciting.  We are in our new gallery, thanks to John Ohare.  We have had several 1st Fridays and are still working the kinks out.  Each one is getting better and better.  We have a couple of new members joining the gallery committee, and they have some wonderful ideas and are volunteering their help, but we could use more.  Contact Will Rennick, Donna Pozehl, Janet Fraley or Jane Chesnut.  If you are a gallery member (you paid for that privilege) you are expected to do your part in maintaining the building and advertising it’s presence.  Tell your friends, bring your friends, bring an acquaintance, bring your non friends (just kidding).  The only way we can get people to know about us is to talk, talk, talk about our gallery and our organization.

Don’t forget about our First Friday event on June 1st.  We will display our regular art work, along with the start of our 3-D Show.  If anyone wants to help get ready for the show, we are meeting Thursday May 31st at 10:00 for a thorough cleaning and set up.  Bring along any cleaning supplies you like that might be useful.

We are also helping design a new sign that we can place in the window of the gallery.  Everyone is encouraged to bring several ideas to the June meeting, which in turn will be turned over to Steve Ohare, one of our resident graphic design members who will then work out the details.    Carmen

Gallery Committee Report

Gallery Committee Report

Our move to Against the Wall has been challenging at times, but fun.   We are so grateful for John and Steve O’Hare for being so helpful.  The walls are really looking great and we are ready to start advertising.  Posters are being handed out to businesses and posted around town.    If you have not been at Against the Wall yet, please stop in or come to one of the 1st Friday receptions.

We have added a few new members to the Gallery committee but we can still use a few more.  If you would like to become part of the fun by helping the committee to make this a great gallery, please let us know.

The most important thing that needs to be done is to start sending emails out to your family and friends.  We do have postcards that can be mailed out or just handed out with the message on the card.

If you have any questions, please give us a call.    Thank you to the new members of the Gallery Committee for your help in getting the gallery up and running.

Graphic Design

Lincoln Artists’ Guild Members…… We need your help.  Our new gallery at Against the Wall would like to have a graphic installed on the window to announce our location.  We are seeking out members to help us design it.  It would appear on a window approximately 4’ x 4’.  Needs to be seen from street distance and should have our logo.  The owner requested something “artsy”.  Email me your designs, or bring to our June monthly meeting.  Carmen Stineman (cmstine@hotmail.com)
