Out of the Box

Lincoln Artists’ Guild has a new gallery opportunity. Jody Strauch, Co-Owner of “Out of the Box” has offered LAG gallery space in her store. The new gallery will be a mix of architectural material (Jody’s business) and fine art (LAG). It should be an interesting mix and complement each other.  It is located at 366 N. 48th Street, Lincoln, NE.

LAG members wishing to sell their art work can have it sold at the gallery. Jody will make the sale and collect the money, sales tax and pays the sales tax.   There will be a 25% commission charge. LAG will not be charging any additional fees at this time.

The members that were at the June meeting have now filled the walls.  Jody as asked that no more art be brought in unless you are called to replace one of your pieces that has been sold.

If you have not been down to Out of the Box, please take the time to visit the store.  The paintings that are there now will be on display for June, July and part of August.   Art work has to be approved before it can be showed.  This can be done by email at jodystrauch@msn.com.  Jody is going to be gone  the last week of June and part of July, but go ahead and email your work for the Aug show.  If she doesn’t answer right away, you know she not back.

If you are interested showing your work and you haven’t received the emails with the name tags and release form that has to be signed, please call Will Rennick  402-742-3414 or Donna Pozehl 402-435-0172.   Also, please call if you have any questions about getting your work in the show.

Thank you to Sue Thelen for taking our members entries to the ANAC 2013 conference in Alliance! It is work to hang the show. The conference was a fun and educational time for members that attended, including Donna Schimonitz and Julie Lemons.  The host clubs were wonderful. They planned fun events such as a sophisticated welcome at the Carnegie Art Center, a western themed evening at Dobby’s, wonderful banquet, and great workshops.

The next ANAC conference will be held in McCook June 11-14th with the 50th year theme of “A Splash of Gold.” Attentively, the 2015 ANAC conference will be held in Seward. So, mark you calendars and make plans for the coming years! Who knows…maybe Lincoln clubs (LAG, Noyes, El Rio) will step up and host the 2016 or 2017…just saying? Check out the ANAC Facebook page and website www.nebraskaartclubs.org for more information.

I really learned a lot and gave it my all as ANAC VP and President the last four years. I will serve as current Past President and advice for two more years. I would enjoy communicating ideas to the ANAC board when sent my way. Thank you to all that have help from LAG along the way to make ANAC successful, too!

Artfully,
Julie Lemons, ANAC past president

Kudos to Will Rennick for finding us the gallery space at Out of the Box.  I think it is Great!!!

Kudos to Lisa Cassel for her work on our Web Page

Our Website

If you haven’t looked at our website lately, you should check it out! The Lincoln Artists’ Guild’s website is getting a bit of a makeover.  Lisa Cassel is making a few updates and changes now that she’s taken over management of it.  In order to try and make the website more appealing to potential members, Lisa would like to include a gallery section with some of our members’ art work.  It might be too difficult to include everyone’s art at the same time, but she thinks we could feature somewhere between 5-10 with no problem and then rotate the members that are featured each month.  If you would like to participate in this or if you have content about an upcoming show or event that you would like featured on the website, please email Lisa at lincolnartistsguild@gmail.com.  Also, if there are any comments, suggestions or questions about the website, you can email her at that address as well.
