FALL JURIED SHOW IN NOVEMBER

NOTE ALL THE CHANGES!!!
It’s time to get your entries ready for the LAG Fall Show.  This year we will hold the show Out of the Box.  But, the date has not been determined at this time.  We hope to have it the Week before Thanksgiving.   We have attached a copy of the registration sheet for your convenience.  Please fill one sheet out for each entry and mail to:  Jan Blank, 1716 Pinedale, Lincoln, NE 69001 with the Per-registration fee of 5.00 per entry.  Items must be pre-registered, cannot be registered the day of hanging.  This will have to be done a couple day before the show so there will be time to make out name tags.  Again the date will be announced by email and a few phone calls to the members that do not have emails.

OUT OF THE BOX GALLERY

Start getting your small Christmas art items down to the gallery. People are starting to buy for Christmas.  Remember these need to be price $20.00 or under. Anything higher should be under $30.00 and okayed by Myra or Jody.   Take one in for approval first. Jody would like them wrapped in clear paper or bag so they are easy to see and maybe add a Christmas  bow on the wrapping.   Paintings do not need to be framed, just matted and wrapped. Lets make them look like good Christmas gifts and they don’t need to go anywhere else to shop.

PROGRAMS

Another new way to create an interesting picture was learned by the members at the Sept. monthly meeting.  Deb Monfelt taught everyone how to quickly and easily create a kitty cat.  After demonstrating using charcoal all over the paper she then used a kneaded eraser to lift the charcoal off as the cats face appeared.  This showed how important it is to become good at drawing so that your free hand motions have control.  She then passed out an assortment of pictures for members to use as their source to make their own pictures from.  It was a great evening of doing what everyone there likes to do.  “MAKE ART”.

The October meeting is our Critique month for the fall and Pam Hynek (ANAC Vice President) will be the artist that should be able to help you with any tips that may improve your picture before you enter it in the November juried show.  However, do bring any pictures that you would like to have critiqued as it is a good learning experience so that you can become even better at what you paint.  Your pictures can be done, framed or not framed, completed or still being worked on.  Or just come and observe and listen to Pam’s remarks.

The November meeting is going to be like a mini free workshop as Lois Smith  will explore watercolor techniques with you.  Even if your not a watercolor artist but would like to play with watercolors, this will be the time to do it.

Out of the Box

Don’t have time to do everything!!!   If you don’t like sending an email to your mailing lists of people that might be interested in seeing or buying your art work, we can now add our lists of names to the Out of the Box lists and they will be sent from Out of the Box.

Just let your people know to watch for the emails so they don’t just set in the junk mail.

Save yourself more time to Paint.

Officers and committee Chairs Needed.

It takes all the members of LAG to make our organization successful and enjoyable for all members.  Do you know a member who would be a good fit for a position in the guild?  Nominate them or consider being part of the team yourself.  You can nominate or run for any position.  We are specifically looking for those positions that will be vacant at the end to the year.  These include President, Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary and members to fill many of the Committees.

Many of these offices were not filled last year and need to be filled in order to keep our non-profit status.  The Vice President positions need to be filled to take some of the responsible off the president.

We are in need of a nominating commit right away.   We need a few members to help get these positions filled.   We need to fill all the club officers except the Treasure position.  Plus there are a lot of committee positions that need to be filled.  If you have been on a committee for 2014 and wish to continue or want to change to a new committee, please let Donna know as soon as possible (402-435-0172).  Some of the members are going to stay at the same positions, but have asked for help.  So if you would like to be on a committee, remember you do not have to do it yourself.

There are a few positions that do require the use of a computer.  So, if you don’t have a computer, it does not mean you cannot help with that position in another way.
