October Monthly Meeting

Our October meeting at 7:00 on October 11 will be a watercolor presentation.  Ted Pardy will present different styles of watercolor usage and the artists that are doing them.  This is not a hands-on program, so you don’t need any materials.  You may bring examples of your work that he will give suggestions.  Should be very informative.

November Meeting

November meeting will be entitled, “Anyone can Do Abstract”.  This is a teaser and hope that you mark your calendars for this one.  It will be hands on, and we are even increasing the time for our meeting from 6:30 – ?.  You may be creating several works of art and we will give you a list of supplies to bring.  We will also provide supplies you will need for a fee if you so desire.  This program will be led by Jan Garvin and Gretchen Olberding who both attended an extensive three day workshop from a nationally acclaimed artist.  Put it on your calendars – November 8

Gallery Closing

The LAG Gallery will be closing permanently at the end of October.  All work, miscellaneous items, etc. will need to be removed Wednesday through Friday October 26-28.  (normal gallery hours).  A big thank you to all who supported the gallery and working the many hours needed to keep it open to the public.

With the closing of the gallery we are now going to more emphasis on workshops and development of all artists.  The first of which will be a mini workshop at our monthly LAG meeting in November.  (more info to come)

Future Shows

We are looking to divide up the ownership of the shows so that one person is not overwhelmed.  Are you interested?  This would involve, finding a judge, receiving entry forms and money, making out tags, hanging the show and taking down the show.  Two or three people on a committee would work well.  We have the Fall Show in October, the Spring Show in March and the Seward Show in early June.  I will still work out the ANAC show which will coincide with the Spring Show.  Let me know by the end of the year.   Carmen Stineman

Mayor’s Arts Awards

Create a Visual Experience for Lincoln Arts’ Mayor’s Arts Awards
Artists, it’s your time! Help Lincoln Arts raise funds for arts programming in our community by painting a small canvas for the art auction at our annual Mayor’s Arts Awards event. Just what will you be painting? Your interpretation of the theme for this year’s 44th Mayor’s Arts Awards, “This is your Brain on ART.”
How to Participate
All you have to do to participate is contact Lincoln Arts Events Manager, Alexandra McCracken, via email at alexandra@artscene.org. From there, you will receive a blank 16 x 20 canvas on which you will create your interpretation of this year’s Mayor’s Arts Awards theme, and then return their completed piece to the Lincoln Arts office (located at 211 N 14th Street, on the third floor of The Foundry) by October 15th. Received artwork will be promoted by Lincoln Arts and become available for purchase online prior to the awards ceremony. Plus, all proceeds will go toward arts programming right here in Lincoln!   Bonus? Participating artists will be able to purchase a discounted ticket to Mayor’s Arts Awards on October 28th at The Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to show Lincoln what you can do with a blank canvas!
