ANAC Entries

All ANAC entries will be brought to the next LAG monthly meeting on July 2.  Work can be picked up at that time.  If you cannot pick them up them, make arrangements for future pickup.  Carmen

Barn Quilt Class

Southeast Community College Continuing Education is offering two classes on making barn quilts.  There was some interest in doing this project, so check into it.  There are two offerings…..October 11 and November 8.  Cost is $69 for a 2’x2′ or $89 for a 3’x3′.  Go to southeast.edu/Continuing, or call 402 437 2700.    Carmen

Attendance at monthly meetings

Just a reminder to please be on time for our monthly meetings at the church.  They are now locking the doors at 7:15 due to security issues.  If you are late, you may not get in.    Carmen

Cards/Well Wishes

Please let Janet Fraley know if someone is in need of a card from the Guild.  Some people have fallen into the cracks and we don’t wish that to happen.  Give her a call and let her know.  402 489 7006

LAG Gallery Report

LAG Gallery Report: Here is idea, just something to think about. Maybe if LAG looked for studio space instead of gallery space it would serve a better function. If we had a space for a LAG studio we would not have to have it open to the public and therefore would not have to keep it staffed. The space could be available for members to meet in small groups with other members to paint watercolor, oils, acrylic, pastel, or create 3D. There could be mini classes, watch a video, or just share time painting with friends. In other wards a place more like being a guild and an art community. And maybe finding a space for a studio might be easer to find than a gallery. If this sounds like something you might like to be apart of, maybe we can talk about it  at the next LAG meeting. Your input is appreciated. Thanks, Will Rennick

ANAC Convention

Pat yourselves on the back!  The Lincoln Artists’ Guild did a great job representing our club.  Of the 17 pieces that were entered, eight received honors, and two of those were selected to be on the traveling show.  That’s almost 50%.  Attending from our club, were Wanda Medina, Gretchen Olberding, Linda Rasmussen and Carmen Stineman.  We each took different classes and were very pleased with our selections.  At the banquet, the emphasis was on the fact that our membership is growing older, and that we need to encourage our youth to join and participate. Nebraska is the only state that has a statewide organization of art clubs and we would hate for it to go the way of the dinosaur.  Maybe our club needs to put forth an effort to invite in the youth of Lincoln to see what we can offer locally and statewide.  Next year the convention will be held in Fremont June 10 – 13, with a pastel artist as our lead instructor.  This is a chance for many of you to participate, as Fremont is not that far, and can be a daily commute, rather than a stay over.  2021 will be in Broken Bow.
