LAG Fall Show

Our Fall Show will again be held at the LUX in October.  Members may bring  up to three pieces, with a $10 entry fee for each.  Keep in mind that all work must be family friendly.  Work must have not been shown before in any of our previous show’s including the ANAC show, and have been completed within the last two years.  You cannot use a piece that was completed in any class or workshop and of course must be original.  Registration forms (located at the end of this newsletter) and money must be sent prior to the hanging day, no entries will be accepted the day of.  Any questions may be referred to Carmen Stineman, cmstine@hotmail.com, or 402 641 6233.

July Change Day

July change day will be Wednesday July 7, from 10:00 till 1:00.  NOTE THE NEW TIME!  Bring your work to the the gallery between 10 and 1 so we can start hanging.  Gallery Committee

Christmas in July!

During the month of July all members of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild may bring in ONE piece to hang in our feature gallery free of charge.  Bring your piece in on Wednesday July 7 from 10 – 1.  Make sure you follow the rules for hanging; wire, not saw-tooth hangers, name, title and cost (or NFS) on the back.  Questions?  Contact Kirk or Carmen.

Teri Martens Sculpture
Creativity: you have it and you’ll prove it.
Teri has been a metal artist since 2010 and she’ll guide you to tap a new creative vein using found materials. Teri will introduce you to the 6 steps of Creative Satisfaction and assist while you design a small piece metal of art. Bring a pair of snug leather gloves, an open mind and $10 for materials and welding supplies to have your creation finished in Teri’s studio. Finished designs will be posted on Teri’s website, martensmetaldesign.com, and credited to each artist.

Gretchen Olberding WORKSHOP : Painting with Pastels Gretchen will do an all day workshop to extend the ideas practiced at the April member meeting. You will learn how to use: + Notans to establish lights and darks as well as composition. + Color wheel to create colors that pop or glow. + Pastels and whether to blend or not to blend. Arrive by 8:40 to 8:50 to setup. Workshop starts on time at 9:00. Half hour working lunch, bring your own. Ends at 4 pm. Participants need to bring their own easel, sketch book, black marker, rubbing alcohol, and small tray for holding pastels they borrow from me. Gretchen will have a small supply list to send out to each registrant. The workshop will be held at the Lincoln Artists’ Guild Tai Chi Room, 2634 N. 48th Street $95 members / $110 non-members workshop fee includes rental of space, instruction, paper, pastels and other materials provided by the instructor. Prepay to reserve by July 15th. Participants will be provided a supply list upon registration. Jan Garvin Mixed Media Collage Jan Garvin is a mixed media artist who utilizes different methods to create texture and depth in her pieces. Join her to learn a few tips and techniques to create interesting effects within your next art piece. She will be demonstrating the use of some different materials including Tyvek, aluminium foil and stucco compound. Bring an open mind and curiosity to the meeting. All other supplies will be provided!

Pastel Painting Workshop

Gretchen Olberding WORKSHOP : Painting with Pastels Gretchen will do an all day workshop to extend the ideas practiced at the April member meeting. Learn the in’s and out’s of pastel painting. Gretchen will show what materials she uses including several types of pochades (painting boxes), how to start an underpainting in three different ways, and how to look for the main 3-4 values in a landscape scene.
