Seward Fourth of July Show

We have been asked again to show at the Seward Fourth of July celebration this year.  Work will be on display beginning on June 1st and hang I believe through July.  Peoples Choice award is given and that artist is offered a free show of their own during the year.  Jan Blank was our winner from last year.  We had around 25 works, but had room for more, so if we decide to do this again, we need to come up with our own theme, and that will need to be decided during our April monthly meeting so I can get back to the people in Seward.  Put on your thinking caps and bring some suggestions.   Carmen Stineman

Spring Show

Congratulations to the Lincoln Artists’ Guild for a spectacular Spring Show.  There were 36 entries that offered a varied and wonderful mix of work.  Everyone agreed, that Anne Pagel our judge had a difficult time selecting the best.  She was very complimentary of how far our work has gone, from when she had judged in the past.  The quality of the work, along with the framing and presentation was much better.  Congratulations go out to Reida Wrenholt for her Best of Show piece, a polyform sculpture entitled “Keep Growing”.  Reida also earned an honorable mention for her terra cotta clay “Spotted Pony”.  Merit Awards went to Keri Kriston for “Young Joe”, Danielle Dewees for “Forever Home” and Pam Apley for “Winging It”.  Honorable mentions went to Donna Pozehl for “A Complex Bouquet” and Jude Martingdale for “Tree of Life”.  Peoples Choice Award was earned by Pam Apley for her fabric piece entitled “Stepping into Paradise”.  A big thank you to the LUX for allowing us to show in their upstairs gallery and for all they help the young ladies did in moving pedestals, and checking if we needed anything during the two days we were setting up and during the reception.

Pickup of all art work is Friday March 29 from 11 – 1.  Remember if you do not make arrangements to pick up your work, it will be stored and you will need to pay $5 to get it back, and after 30 days, the work becomes the property of the Guild.

ANAC Qualifying Show

Association of Nebraska Art Clubs has a juried competition during their convention in June, and so our Guild may select 16 pieces to represent our club at the convention.  Our pre-qualifing show will be at the LUX during the month of April.  If you joined the Guild prior to the February 15th deadline this year, you are eligible to show your work.  You may submit TWO pieces only and there is a size limit….40″ x 40″ including frame.  We will again be accepting pieces on Thursday April 4 from 11 – 2 with hanging beginning at 2.  Jim Miklavcic will be making the selections, but there is no monetary compensation or ribbons for this show, so there will be no entry fee.  Please note that if your work is selected to be shown at the ANAC Convention in June, you will need to pay an entry fee to ANAC of $10 for each piece.
