The Front Page Art Contest for The Lincoln 55+ Seniors Paper is asks for new, original Art that meets requirements for presentation on the Front Page of their quarterly newspaper. The 2014 Front Page Art Contest will offer prizes, recognition and media exposure. In addition, the Front Page winner will be purchased. The contest is co-sponsored by the Lincoln Artist Guild (LAG) who will help with promotion, logistics, and displays. Three judges will assess the entries based on criteria for Front Page artwork. The “Best of Show,” and all other entries, entries will then be considered as the “Front Page” winner. In this top award, the artist’s price will be a consideration because the piece will be purchased by the 55+ and published in the Fall 2014 Issue. Special consideration – The Front Page of the newspaper is folded for stacking and the top half of your artwork will need to convey a meaningful portion of the image. Newsprint ink – Strong colors are best. Colorful art with good contrast is desirable. Orientation – Vertical Proportion – 8 wide by 10 tall (16 x 20, 20 x 25, etc) Min. Size – 8” by 10” tall Max. Size – 24” by 30” tall
Photo – submit an Art photo (3 to 5 megabytes is best) to Art@lincoln55plus.com.Include Title, your name, Media type, price and your phone number. It is OK to mail your photo to the Lincoln 55+ PO Box. Bio – Winners will be asked to provide an artists statement about the work (100 to 300 words is typical.) Identification: Please include a legible tag with the title, artist, media style and your Price – Each entry must be for sale. Permission – The 55+ Requires permission to use the image in future issues. Display – All entrants will be asked to bring their original art to Bennett Martin Library. Details will be provided.
