Pickup of all art work destined for the ANAC Convention will be picked up on Thursday June 13 at 10:00 in the Michaels lot on 48th and R street (right north of Out of the Box). Seward Fourth of July Show
We have been asked again to show at the Seward Fourth of July celebration this year. Work will be on display beginning on June 1st and hang I believe through July. Peoples Choice award is given and that artist is offered a free show of their own during the year. Jan Blank was our winner from last year. We had around 25 works, but had room for more, so if we decide to do this again, we need to come up with our own theme, and that will need to be decided during our April monthly meeting so I can get back to the people in Seward. Facebook Designer
Anyone interested in manning the Facebook page for the Guild? Jane Chesnut has been keeping our Facebook page up to date, but she would like to step down after doing it for several years. She will continue for this year, but if you are interested, contact her and she will talk with you and let you see what she is doing. Computer skills necessary of course and knowledgeable about Facebook. Carmen

We had a great meal, great friends to catch up with, and wonderful entertainment with some young ladies from the Chinese Academy dancing for us. New Years is in the books and memberships renewed for another great year.

February LAG Meeting

Lincoln Artists’ Guild has changed our 1st Friday gathering to the 1st Thursday. So our 1st Thursday for February is on the 7th. Please mark this change on your calendar and tell your friends. There will be no 2nd Thursday gallery meeting in February unless announced later. The gallery schedule for March is the following: March 7th- first Thursday, March 14th- second Thursday gallery meeting, March 21st- third Thursday change of gallery art. Be well, Will Rennick
+++President’s Potpouri+++
This will be my last entry as President of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild. It has been a busy, exhausting and also exciting two years, but now I pass the torch to someone else. I know your new president, Kirk Keunzi will do a great job. He has the knowledge (past president) and the enthusiasm to do great things. I hope that everyone will do their best to help him with his new endeavor and support him and the LAG board .
ANAC
Association of Nebraska Art Clubs membership will be due the end of February. The deadline for members to join our guild (which automatically gives them membership to ANAC) is February 16. There is no additional charge to you the member, as the Guild pays your $12 (which comes out of your $35) to that organization. This year’s conference will be in Albion June 19-22 and if you have never gone to one, I highly encourage you to go. The workshops are diverse and should have something for everyone. Maybe a group could go and share a room or rooms. Workshops included this year are: Intuitive Abstract Acrylic, Sketch Book Journaling, Collage, Glass Slumping, Pour Painting, Ballpoint Pen Drawing and One-Day Clay.
Committee Chairmen
New year and new responsibilities.
Dee Kelch will be responsible for keeping Facebook up to date. Any information you want on there, give her a shout. She will continue on as membership chairman.
Danielle Deweese will be responsible for creating and managing our Web Page. Danielle is a new member and works at the University of Nebraska.
Carmen Stineman is going to be the working with Will Rennick managing the shows.
Our new publicity chairman is going to be Gretchen Olberding. She will find the sources and you/the members, can help by giving her information and suggestions.
LAG Show Dates
Mark your calendars! The 2019 LAG show dates are as follows:
Febr. 28 – hanging of the Spring Show (Thursday) (at LUX)
April 4 – hanging the ANAC pre-qualifying show (Thursday) (at LUX)
Seward Fourth of July show (months of June and July)
July 11 – set up for 3-D Show (Thursday)
Sept. 9 – Havelock Car Show (one day only)
October 3 – hanging of the Fall Show (Thursday) (at LUX)
Many changes for this years shows. The cost to enter the shows will be $10 for each piece, (or 3 pieces for $25), Yes you may enter up to 3 pieces, 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional. The reason for the increase is that we have not been breaking even after paying for a judge, ribbons and monetary payments to winners. We are not out to make money, but we do need to cover our costs.
The location for our shows is changing also. We will have our shows at the LUX Center for the Arts located at 2601 N. 48th Street in Lincoln. We will have a large beautiful gallery upstairs (there is an elevator) that does not cost us anything. We will be able to participate in their first Friday events complete with food and drinks. The reasons are two-fold. We should have more traffic as we are dovetailing along with their gallery shows, and we will not have to disturb our gallery pieces by removing, rehanging, etc. The shows will still hang for approximately a month as before.
More information will follow about the time to bring work in but it is important to:
Send your registration forms (found at the bottom of your newsletter) to Ethel at least a week in advance of the hanging. This facilitates getting tags ready prior to hanging day.
