2027? Far, far, away……..but not so far when you realize what is involved. Lincoln is hosting the 2027 ANAC Convention. Member clubs that will be helping are: Lincoln Artists’ Guild, Clements/Noyes Art Gallery, El Rio Art Club, St. Paul Art Guild, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, with Beatrice helping out also. Carmen Stineman and E Elder are co-chairs for the event and we are starting the ball rolling already. The theme is “2027 ANAC Convention; It’s a Capitol Idea” with many of the workshops gearing toward the capitol building and the capital city. Committees are set up and we are in the process of filling chairman spots. Right now – LAG will be responsible of the handmade awards, table decorations for the banquet and banquet details. Great chance for LAG members to participate in the many workshops without having to travel. Mark your calendars for June 9-12 2027.

Unitarian Church Arts and Crafts Sale

The Unitarian Church is hosting an Art and Craft Show on November 9th, and Jan Garvin was originally signed up to participate. She is not going to be able to fulfill that commitment and will gladly pass on her spot to a LAG member that may be interested in showing in her place. Please contact Jan soon to discuss options. Jan Garvin, 402 318 9757.

December Program

This month’s activity is to culminate the end of the year with  “Show & Tell” holiday art creations.  The plan is for individuals to demonstrate in a 5 minute time slot, to demonstrate a project to the members.  (this would entail having multiple steps completed for a visual reference) and to have a sheet available that lists materials needed and steps typed out for take home purposes.  Can I count on our members to volunteer to demonstrate their favorite Christmas/Holiday project?  Maybe something you do at Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Halloween etc.

If you would respond to me by our November 7th meeting, I can make preparations.

We will meet again at the Sheridan Lutheran Church (enter at door 4) and meet in our usual room, 413. Topic will be our semi annual critique show, with members bringing art they are currently working on for suggestions and encouragement. Members are also reminded to bring in their “Still Life” challenge from this spring. (Cowboy boot, playing cards)

Officers are working on next years programs, so if anyone has suggestions for meeetings and/or a workshop, please bring your ideas. You can also email any of the officers, (see your membership booklet) if you can’t attend the meetings.

Online National Shows

As I was googling sites for our online show format, I got information from Laura Pollak from Greensboro, North Caroline about what sites she uses to set up shows. I thought I would pass on to our members that might want to enter a national show, two sites that you can addess….ShowSubmit is one, and the other is Online Juried Shows. This may be something some of you might be interested in.

Spring Show

Spring Show drop off is Wednesday April 3rd from 10:00 – 12:00.  Maximum number of entries is 3 and they cannot have been shown in a previous Fall or Spring LAG Show.  $10 fee for each entry.  48″ maximum size, length or width.  75 LB weight limit on three dinmensional work. March Monthly Program

Next monthly program will be Tuesday March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Sheridan Lutheran Church, 6955 Old Cheney Road. (enter at door 4 – NW side) We will be meeting in room 413 and the program is our Critique Night. Bring one or two pieces that you are working on and the members will give suggestions and “high fives”. We will also have a still life set up for you to sketch or photograph. In September, when we have our second critique night, members can bring back their finished still life projects.

Spring Show

The Spring Show will be held in April this year, at the LUX. Drop off of work will be Wednesday April 3rd from 10:00 till 12:00. Our judge will be Robert Esquivil. You may enter a maximum of three pieces, none of which have been shown in a previous LAG show. Pieces must be current (within the last two years). 48″ maximum dimension of two dimensional work and 75 lb sculpture limit. Jewelry must be in a secure case/frame. There is a $10 fee for each piece. This show will also be our ANAC selection show. Ribbons and monetary prizes awarded. Questions forwarded to Carmen Stineman, Show Chairman.

Business Meeting

Officers of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild met Tuesday morning, February 27th. Present were President, Carmen Stineman, Vice President Kirk Kuenzi, 2nd Vice President, Mark Mesloh and Treasurer Jan Garvin.

$31,000 in our treasurery, both in checking and Edward Jones Account.

Presented and passed unanimously that honorary members will be dropped from the memberhip roles as a $12 fee per member must be paid out to ANAC, and it was felt that as these members do not pay a membership fee, that the $12 fee was an additional expense we did not want to continue.

Discussion about a Web Page vs Facebook page. The Web Page has many obsolete or erroneous entries, and possible we can have both a public and members only accessable site on Facebook. Jan will look into that for us.

Last year the Guild hosted members in a three site booth at the Holy Trinity Arts Festival in order to encourage novice and veteran fair goers to show their art and promote the Lincoln Artists’ Guild. Now that members have had the experence the Guild will not host a booth, but will instead take applications from members who would like to have their own booth, but request financial help from the Guild, with the stipulation the artist promote the LAG organization. Requests can be made in writing to Carmen Stineman, President of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild, 3300 SW 80th Circle, Lincoln NE 68532. Deadline for this application is Saturday April 6.

We will again be participating in the Seward Fourth of July Art show held all summer in Seward. Due to construction at the Langworthy Center, this summer’s show will be held at the Red Path Gallery on the square in Seward. Unlike in previous years which didn’t cost anything, this year we will charge $10 per entry, and if any sales are made, a commission will be required to help cover the $250 a month rental that the Seward Arts Council is absorbing this year. Also, due to the size of the space provided we will have to limit the size and number of pieces. Advantages to this space rather than previous years is that is the gallery right on the square where all festivities are and members may sell their work, which we could not do in the past.

Items that were discussed and tabled for future were: Do we need another set of metal screens for hanging? Requirements for being a 501 (c). Possibly changing banks due to difficulty with online depositing. If we wish to participate in the fine arts part of the State Fair, we need a point person to facilitate.
