ANAC

What is that? For those of you who are new to LAG, or those who just forgot; ANAC is short for Association of Nebraska Art Clubs. This organization combines all the local art clubs across the state into one larger unit for the purposes of displaying and promoting the arts across Nebraska. ANAC sponsors a state wide conference in June at various sites and offers workshops, and comradery with fellow artists. Life-long friendships are made here. The 2023 convention will be held in Columbus June 7-10 of 2023 with the theme “Create and Connect”. This organization is unique in the fact that Nebraska is the only state that has this type of organization. If you joined LAG prior to this February 25th, you will automatically become a member of ANAC with the Guild paying your membership. This entitles you to have your work juried into the state show and for you to attend the convention in June. Members joining after the 25th will not be eligible, but will still benefit from all the activities LAG offers in Lincoln throughout the year.

Spring Show

For future reference, the LAG Spring Show will be held in March this year at the LUX. Things to remember…….work must be two years old or newer, original, not have been shown in a previous LAG show.

The ANAC selection show will also be held at the same time/same place. These pieces may have been shown in a previous LAG show BUT they will not be considered for spring show awards, only to be considered for ANAC convention pieces. These also may not have been shown at a previous ANAC convention, must be two years old or newer, and original. You must be a current member of LAG by the end of January to be in the ANAC show. Thank You

In June our mini show was “Pet Palooza” with donations going to an organization. We donated to a lost pets organization and just received a thank you.

“Hi Carmen, My neighbors down the street brought over 3 pieces of mail that was delivered to them while they were on vacation. I want to thank you for doing this for me and my lost pet page. Means a lot to me and the pets I help. Love you”

Change Day

Wednesday July 27th is the usual change day at the gallery. Some of you will keep your wall spots and have paid a six month fee for that privilege; some of you will keep your spots and pay for a one month fee; and some of you may wish to change spots (Pam Apley is taking over Carmen’s spots for August); and some of you may choose to put in only one or two pieces to fill in unchosen wall spots. Don’t forget, we again have a mini show. August – “Sport-tastic” $5 for each entry. If we have an empty space, we will combine the earlier mini show entries to one area (no cost).

May Monthly Meeting

5/10/2022. 7-9pm

2634 north 48th ST. LAG Gallery meeting room (parking in rear or across the street west of Mo Java)

Megan Connealy of Pretty Eats Cookies and will share her expertise of cookie decorating. She will demonstrate several different art techniques such as wet on wet, flooding, and outlining to create delicious art. Participants will have 6 cookies to decorate and take home. $25 material fee paid to Megan the evening of the program includes all supplies and cookies.

Wet on wet, flooding, outlining, etc. Sounds like painting on paper! The same processes occur in other aspects of the art scene. How about art to eat. This sounds like both skill and learning a skill, surprise accidents, and lots of fun. You don’t have a bring a thing except your materials fee of $25.

See Megan’s work on Facebook: @prettyeatscookiesandcakepops.

RSVP to Lynette Fast (402 318 8517) by Saturday April 30th if you will be participating in the decorating!
