We will be in room 522 at the Sheridan Lutheran Church for our March 13th LAG meeting. Program is:
Fundamentals of Portrait Drawing – It Doesn’t Need to Be Scary!
We will be working with a live model – 5, 10 and 20 minute sessions
1) Seeing and capturing basic shapes – orbs, eggs, pyramids, cones, cubes, etc. and organizing them into a portrait
2) Gesture – Orienting the figure in your space
3) Expression – what key elements make this subject special?
Materials:
Drawing pad, 9×12” or larger
Drawing clipboard (optional)
Easel – if you want to stand (also optional)
Charcoal pencils – hard and medium (I recommend General’s – available at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Gomez)
Cretacolor sticks or Conte’ pencils, if you like (optional) I will probably be using Cretacolor for some drawings
Utility knife (razor) and sanding block for sharpening – available at most any hardware store
Chamois cloth
Kneaded eraser
If possible, it would be helpful to have a few trash cans scattered around the space for shavings, sanding dust.
Program facilitator will be Chuck Schroeder
