About Guest Artist Carolyn Albracht

Carolyn Albracht is an artist, educator and owner of L’eglise Art Center and Gallery in Aurora, Ne.  She works primarily in oil pastel, creating bold, colorful figurative and feline forms.  More recently she has begun exploring watercolor and Prismacolors.  She has exhibited her work throughout Nebraska since 1999.  She also exhibited her work and was a member at Gallery Nine in Lincoln from 2001 to 2007. Currently, she exhibits work at Louisville Art Gallery in Louisville, Nebr. and So-Oh Fine Arts in Lincoln, Nebr.

Ms. Albracht studied Studio Art and Psychology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she earned her B.A., and then continued her studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, receiving an MA in Museum Studies.  She is now finishing classes at UNL to obtain a teaching certificate in art education.  Her first public school teaching position is at Hampton Public Schools, working with high school students, beginning in the fall of 2009.

In 2003, Ms. Albracht opened L’eglise Art Center and Gallery, where she teaches art to children, Hosts art workshops for teens and adults, and curates exhibits of work by area artists.  Ms. Albracht also served as the Visual Arts Coordinator for the Fall Arts and Music Festival in Aurora for four years, and continues to serve on the Fine Arts Board of the Hamilton Community Foundation.  She believes the arts are a necessity and not a luxury, and so strives to make the visual arts as accessible as possible to people in her corner of the world.
