2018 Fall Show

The Fall Show is “in the books” so to speak, and congratulations go out to all the winners and  all who participated.  The show is growing and that is gratifying.  This year’s show had a wide variety of pieces to be judged.  Regarding the  First Friday evening, many said: “I wouldn’t want to be the judge this year because there is such as variety”.  Our judge  Janna Harsch  did a wonderful job spendidng close to 3 1/2 hours analyzing the submissions and writing helpful critiques.  Best of Show went to Reida Wrenholt with her sculpture entitiled “Tree Spirit”.   The James Ray Award went to Lisa Cassel for her colored pencil rendition entitled “Fall Frivolity”.  Awards of Merit went to Gretchen Olberding for “Symphony of Light and Shadows”, Carmen Stineman for “Bullitt”, and Jan Blank for “September Song”.  Honorable Mentions to Jane Chesnut for “Natures’ Wonder”, Pam Apley for “New Day” and Taylor Wilson for “Wind Wing Gobmeca”  If you haven’t been to the gallery to see the show, please stop by.  It is beautiful, and of course, there is one more award to be given.  The People’s Choice.  Vote for who you liked the most.  The votes will be tallied on the day the show comes down, Thursday, November 29th from 10a.m. – 12noon – the day for everyone to pick up their entries and the gallery change date.

Discussions have been ongoing about how much money we realize, and how much we spend for our shows.  It appears that we are continually in the red.  Next year there may be some changes, including, increasing the entry fee, not awarding as many ribbons, or not giving cash awards for placing.  Presently these possibilities are in the discussion phase.  The goal is to meet show expenses, not make a profit.  Please send me your opinions or ideas.      Carmen Stineman
