August 4th LAG Meeting: Speakers Lisa Cassel and Myra Sontheimer

7-9 p.m. The August LAG Program/demonstration will be presented by Lisa Cassel. Lisa has been passionately studying and creating art since she was 11 or 12. She enjoys many kinds of art and mediums, and loves to experiment with new things often. Primarily a self-taught artist, Lisa enjoys sharing her love of art with people, and has taught art to home-schooled kids in the Lincoln area for a half a dozen years or so. Recently, she become a certified Bob Ross Instructor–a certification which she is excited to use to share art with even more people of all ages.

The topic for the guild meeting’s presentation is “Putting Humor in your Paintings”–and Lisa hopes to share the process she uses when she is imagining and planning her art, stories about her favorite (and humorous) artists that inspire her, and a little bit about drawing in perspective to create trompe l’oeil art and anamorphic art.

Members may want to bring some paper, rulers, charcoal pencils or sticks, graphite pencils, tortillions or other blending tools. Lisa will bring the supplies she has to share with those that do not have drawing materials, but if you have drawing paper, charcoal pencils and sticks and/or graphite pencils, erasers (gummy ones are the best!), and tortillions or other blending tools, then everyone can join in the fun and try some techniques! Myra Sontheimer from Out of the Box will be speaking on “How to Sell Our Art.”
