Spring Show

We had a great show again this year! 32 entries. Best of Show & People’s Choice awards both went to Keri Kriston with her piece “Miss A” The fall show will be held in November at the LUX, mark your calendars.

The Seward Show will be held this summer and the theme is “Celebrating Summer Fun in Nebraska”. Hopefully we will have good participation, with as many as three pieces from each artist if so desired. This is a great chance for you to get your work out and be seen by many people and it doesn’t cost you a thing. Wow! Can’t beat that. Only stipulation as to theme is that it must be family friendly and of a non- political nature. There will be a “People’s Choice” voted on by attendees during the summer, and that winner will have the opportunity to host a one-person show the following year.

Pam Apley (p.apley@icloud.com) is the chairman of this show, and as we cannot put a price on the front of the work, she will have a master copy to be shared with titles and prices and contact information if people wish to purchase.

Work will need to be ready for pickup close to June 1. More details later.

Where is the newsletter?

Some people have been asking why they can’t find the newsletter later in the month. The reason is that on the 20th of each month, the newsletter is set up for the next month for people to post information to. If you are wanting continual information, it may be wise to just print it out when you receive it.

Holy Trinity Fine Arts Festival

The Lincoln Artists’ Guild will be providing two covered booths for the Art Festival which will be held on Saturday May 6 at their location, 6001 “A” St (across from Pius School). This is a great opportunity for LAG members to showcase their work and make sales too. This is a juried show so artists need to submit five examples of their work by March 15 in order to be selected to participate. The only cost to members is a $25 fee for the jury selection which goes to the church. All information can be found at holytrinityartsfestival.com. Please let Jan Garvin 402 904 4801 or her cell is 402 318 9757, if you are planning on participating,

ANAC

What is that? For those of you who are new to LAG, or those who just forgot; ANAC is short for Association of Nebraska Art Clubs. This organization combines all the local art clubs across the state into one larger unit for the purposes of displaying and promoting the arts across Nebraska. ANAC sponsors a state wide conference in June at various sites and offers workshops, and comradery with fellow artists. Life-long friendships are made here. The 2023 convention will be held in Columbus June 7-10 of 2023 with the theme “Create and Connect”. This organization is unique in the fact that Nebraska is the only state that has this type of organization. If you joined LAG prior to this February 25th, you will automatically become a member of ANAC with the Guild paying your membership. This entitles you to have your work juried into the state show and for you to attend the convention in June. Members joining after the 25th will not be eligible, but will still benefit from all the activities LAG offers in Lincoln throughout the year.

Spring Show

Our Spring Show will be held this March at the LUX.  Drop off will be Thursday March 2nd from 12 – 2.  We will be hanging on Thursday afternoon so it will be up for the LUX First Friday event on the 3rd.  The judging for the show will be later in the month, rather than on Friday the 3rd, so it will allow the judge to take her time and do critiques of each work.  Keep in mind these important facts:

  • work must be original, do not copy from a calendar, etc.
  • maximum size is 40 inches by 40 inches (including frame) for two dimensional work and three dimensional work must not exceed 36 inches any way and weight 75 pounds or less (including traveling container if chosen to travel to the ANAC show in June.
  • Gallery wrapped canvas is acceptable providing the edges are finished and no staples are showing.
  • piece has been completed within the last two years, and has not been shown in a previous ANAC show.

For this show you may bring three pieces (including having been in a past LAG show, but done within the last two years.)  Entry fee for each piece entered is $10, payable to the Guild.  Om addition to our ribboned awards, we will also be selecting our ANAC entries also.  The number of ANAC entries is determined by how many members we have by May 1.   Any questions, email me.

Spring Show

For future reference, the LAG Spring Show will be held in March this year at the LUX. Things to remember…….work must be two years old or newer, original, not have been shown in a previous LAG show.

The ANAC selection show will also be held at the same time/same place. These pieces may have been shown in a previous LAG show BUT they will not be considered for spring show awards, only to be considered for ANAC convention pieces. These also may not have been shown at a previous ANAC convention, must be two years old or newer, and original. You must be a current member of LAG by the end of January to be in the ANAC show.
