The featured artist was born and raised in the Nebraska countryside, Karen Schneider grew up with a strong affinity for and appreciation of the beauty of unspoiled Nature in all Her glory. Following an 11-year span of touring the world with her late husband, Norman, during his time in the United States Air Force, Karen was delighted to return to her family farm to establish their permanent household in 1979. Thirty-six years later, she’s still on the farm and loving it – except for the constant mowing!

Karen began her journey as an artist in high school, where she dabbled in watercolor. From there, her combined interests in art and the beauty of nature led her to focus on flower arranging. She is a Master Judge for the National Council of Garden Clubs. Karen returned to the world of paint on canvas thanks to the influence and patient tutelage of the late TV personality, Bob Ross, and his official series of oil painting classes, with her first oil painting experience coming from a Bob Ross course at Southeast Community College.

Since then, Karen has been a dedicated fan and student of other TV painters whose courses appear on the Create TV network, such as Jerry Yarnell, Frank Clark, and Kathwren & Gary  Jenkins. These fine artists have helped Karen hone existing skills as well as develop new ones in watercolor, oil, and acrylic paint.

Karen’s paintings have received numerous awards at local shows and the Saunders County Fair. Her art was also featured in the University of Nebraska – Lincoln East Campus Union in 2010.

Featured Music: Lincoln Early Music Consort
The Lincoln Early Music Consort is a chamber ensemble specializing primarily in music from before 1750.  They play replicas of early instruments including recorders, viols, cornamuse, krumhorns and more and have been an ensemble for over 20 years. They have participated in an annual spring concert, appeared with early vocal ensemble Dulces Voces, played for weddings and given demonstrations for schools and other organizations.

Fall or Winter show

LAG is still in need of at least 4 volunteers to run the Fall or Winter show. Julie Lemons has found a judge, but if we wait any longer without letting the judge know when we are going to have a show we may not get the judge due to his/her schedule.

OOTB NEWS

It came to our attention that not everyone is aware of proper art gallery etiquette.   in a gallery setting,, it is never appropriate to take pictures of the art work—if you have permission from the artist, you may take a photo, but not in the gallery.  It must be done somewhere else.  If you copy or use other artists’ ideas, it is the same as plagiarism in literature.  You could be barred as a member of the Gallery and/or the Artist’s Guild, and even prosecuted.  Also, it is never–under any circumstances–appropriate to touch or feel a piece of art.  And lastly, it is never appropriate to record any of the music at the gallery. Signs are being made to hang in the gallery so that everyone will be reminded of these rules.
