Club Outing to Ashland

Eleven LAG members and one guest had a great time Saturday, Sept. 24th, when they traveled to Ashland to make a day of touring the city which is full of artistic things to view and appreciate.  Mary Roncka greeted us as we entered the Willow Point Gallery that showcases her husband’s art.  Gene had made it a gallery that also displays preserved wild game animals in a unique wooded setting. Visitors can relax with a cup of coffee while choosing pictures to buy or quality frames to have made for them.  Copper’s Gallery also gave us another view into his completely different technique of painting that was bright and bold. We saw his studio and how he works from his images that he puts on a TV screen.  Kim David Cooper works right where patrons can watch him paint. His gallery also houses works by other pottery artists’.   As a member of the Historical society, he also gave us a tour of the historical Episcopal Church and shared great history of Ashland.  Of course, you can’t tour Ashland without lunching at Cherio’s with ice cream later in the afternoon.  Also, there are many other interesting shops and building such as the Market Place to see.  It was a day of interaction for everyone with emphases on art. Now, we’ll have to plan another outing soon since it was a great day for everyone.
