Congratulations to Jasmine Winter-2013 LAG Scholarship Winner!

Jasmine is a senior at Lincoln Southeast High School. She will be attending the Kansas City Art Institute in the Fall with emphasis in illustration or comics. She has developed her own comic strip and most likely will major in animation (in hopes to animate them at some point.).
While in high school, she has enjoyed French club, choir, being a staff member for the literary magazine, and has earned membership in the National Honor Society. During high school she learned the appreciation of more important things in life than the clothes she wears. She accompanied her dad on a trip to Ethiopia to an “A-HOPE” orphanage for children born with the HIV virus.
Art is important to Jasmine because it helps to lift her up. She hopes to learn how to animate her comics into a TV show. “I have a mood disorder, and sometimes get crazy sad at the smallest things. How I cope with it is with comedy. I use the comics I make. For me, comedy is an escape. I feel like if I can do that on a larger scale than I do now, it’ll be something other people like me can use.”
