May General Meeting Minutes

Donna Pozehl opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and asking if there were any guests.  Joy Frame introduced her guest, Sue Liess, who is a watercolorist.

Minutes of the last month’s meeting were handed out to members to read before the meeting.  They were approved.   Connie Backus gave the treasurer’s report as follows:  Balance as of the last statement $2,466.55, Interest earned $.11; Deposited to ANAC $234.00 and Bills paid 230.69. Report was approved.    Connie also stressed that membership checks and checks for participating in shows should be made out to the Lincoln Artists’ Guild.    Membership check should be mailed to Lisa Cassel.

Lisa Cassel announced she had the LAG Membership cards with her for those who have not gotten one.

Sue Thelen announced that 20 pieces of art will be going to the ANAC show in Alliance.  Those not attending must deliver their work to her home at 500 Pier 1, date and time to be announced.    Sue will be returning to Lincoln on July 1st.  Anyone that needs their work back before that date, please make other arrangements with someone who will be attending the ANAC show to bring the artwork back earlier.   Pick up is set for July 1st or shortly after Sue is home.

Jan Blank gave a rundown of possible outings for next year and asked for other suggestions.

Joy Frame announced she was sending out information on two workshops to the members.  One is in Ames, Iowa in June and an abstract workshop May 30th to June 1st by Jan Pippitt.

Joyce Jacobs gave a program committee report stating there will be two critiques, the Chinese New Year Dinner, and a video night with popcorn.  Other possibilities that are not firm yet are having a representative from the Golden Company come and inform us about their products, which the committee would want to do in conjunction with other art clubs, a meeting on shadows, a live model, and how your camera works.  There were many ideas from the program planning meeting in April and Joyce welcomed any other ideas for programs.  She also reminded members to bring their sketch pads (and maybe their cameras) next month.  The following month of July members are to bring their masters paintings.  She brought several books and her painting of the Gypsy Girl to share with members.

Will Rennick gave information about the EVAU in Wisner, NE on May 26th & 27th.  There is no charge to participate but you can set up a table and have business cards for people to contact you.

Donna distributed a list of places where you can show your artwork.  She also gave information about the “ToDoInThisTown” magazine which comes out once a month.  She reminded people that drop off time for the State Office Building show is on June 1st from 9-10 a.m.  Art work must be picked up on June 28th by 3:00 p.m.

Julie Lemons announced she is teaching a pastel portrait class May 25th and 27th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Noyes gallery.  Contact her if interested in attending.

Wanda moved the meeting adjourn, seconded by Sue Thelen.
