2021 Meeting Program

Plans are coming together for our 2021 Meeting Programs. The presenters from 2020 that were canceled are considering our 2021 dates. Here’s a preview of what is confirmed.

February 9 Carmen Stineman, Kirk Kuenzi, Lynette Fast, Gretchen Olberding Paint your own face mask and hear about the NEW LAG Gallery Bring a couple of ideas and a light colored fabric mask or two to paint on the surface. If you have materials for decorating, bring them. Carmen has two baskets of fabric markers and fabric paint for everyone to use. While you work on your mask, LAG Gallery Committee will fill you in on all the details of the new building and gallery. New memberships to the Guild will be encouraged by this date, but will take them at any time after.
March 9 Spring Show Critique Members may bring two finished or unfinished works.
April 13 Gretchen Olberding Introduction to Plein Air Painting with Pastels Learn the in’s and out’s of painting outdoors. Gretchen will show what materials she takes; several types of pochades (painting boxes), and how to start an underpainting in three different ways. How to look for the main 3 to 4 values in a landscape scene. With luck, she hopes to bring it nearly to completion.
May 11 Lois Smith Watercolor Lois Smith, watercolor, water-media, occasionally mixed media or oil. Member of Impact Nebraska Artists, Signature Member of Association of NE Art Clubs. We will go into nature to create a small painting with depth and color. Tips to use in the studio or in the field when working en Plein Aire. Lois will bring watercolor pencils for you to try…you just might love them. Participants may bring their own watercolors, brushes, and watercolor paper OR pay a $5 materials fee to the artist.
June 8 Keri Kriston/ TENTATIVE Painting Eyes: Color in the Planes of the Eye Keri is a portrait painter and uses high contrast color. She will share her knowledge of color and explain how she thinks about color in her paintings. Bring small brushes for acrylic paint.
July 13 Ron Brooks/ TENTATIVE Bronze Sculpture: Clay Modeling Ron has always been artistic, creating wood carvings, building models, drawing and painting as well. As a professional artist, he discovered that his true passion is sculpture. As an artist, each sculpture holds special significance. It is the interpretation of others that continues to inspire new works.
August 10 Jody Boyer/ TENTATIVE Artist: Teacher The Business of Being an Artist : Leading a Double Life: Strategies, Advice and Tips for a Successful Art Career while working another job. Balancing the needs of another job while also establishing or maintaining your personal artistic practice can be exhausting. Many artists are given little training in developing their own successful studio practice. You will gain a variety of insights, strategies and practical tips to develop your own plan of action for a successful studio practice while balancing your family and other work.
September 14 Fall Show Critique Members may bring two finished or unfinished works.
