Rita has only been pursuing her art for about two years and took lessons from artist, Amy Sadle from Syracuse. Rita is a great asset to the Lincoln Artists’ Guild. She has been a member for three years, a greeter, a member of our gallery committee, and is our newly elected secretary for 2015.

FEATURED MUSIC: THE SOUTHEAST NEBRAKSA BOHEMIAN BAGPIPE BAND
This band is an eight piece group, rich with Czech culture and music. It features many Czech folk instruments that may seem a bit foreign to the average person including the dudy (the bohemian bagpipe), fanfrnoch, vozembouch, and hrabe. The only familiar instrumentation may be the violin, Eb clarinet and the Bb clarinet, associated with many brass bands. The dudy itself was first mentioned in history in the Premyslid Dynasty – 13th century in Prague in The Chronicle of Zbraslav in 1294.

The Southeast Nebraska Bohemian Bagpipe Band has a variety of talent that ranges in ages from 17 years to … well, let’s just say “maturity. The involvement of the youth in this group, combined with the experience of older members brings together a wonderful blend of skill and ideas. Danielle, Stefanie and Jo all have beautiful vocals and Sue can blend in on harmonies when needed.  The band’s members are all from the southeast Nebraska communities of Swanton, Wilber, Crete, Tobias and Lincoln. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
