May General LAG Meeting

Lincoln Artists’ Guild

General Meeting

Tuesday, May 9, 2023

Time: 7:00 pm

The meeting was opened by Kirk Kuenzi and members were asked to introduce themselves.

The treasurer, Jan Garvin gave a report of the guild’s funds. She also discussed the Holy Trinity Arts Festival held on May 6, 2023 of which 10 guild members participated. Approximately 2,000 people attended the event with our sales totaling $1,400.00 and it was concluded that the event was successful and will be considered again for next year although sales in general appeared to be lower that the previous year per Bonnie Vodehnal.

There was a discussion on selling artworks. Pam Apley noted it is important to get out there and visit with customers viewing your artwork, explaining that you are the artist and answer any questions they may have about your work. This may help sell your artwork.

Information on the upcoming Seward Show was given by Pam as well as handouts providing additional information. The show will continue throughout the months of June, July and August. Pam will pick up artwork on June 1st at 10:30 am in the parking lot at the Christian book store next to Hobby Lobby on east O Street. She will then deliver the art to the Civic Center Langworthy Gallery in Seward.

Kirk Kuenzi presented a program on ink blot creations later in the evening. A video was shown to demonstrate ink blots while we were given supplies to attempt our own ink blots. An interesting new art concept for many of our artists.

Respectfully,

Donna Justsen,

Secretary
